Hello, My name is Julie! I am registered psychologist with a breadth of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. If you are feeling stuck, getting caught in the same unhealthy arguments or conflicts, experiencing communication breakdowns, and/or generally struggling with deep feelings of insecurity, sadness, or anxiousness, I want you to know that you are not alone.

I understand that talking to someone new about your most important experiences is a vulnerable process. That is why my approach to working with people is to meet you right where you are, learn about what makes you - you, and support you in creating new ways forward that feel better, more genuine, and more connected.

Short Bio: Like my colleague, Dr. Suehn, I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Calgary and my M.A. at UBC In Vancouver. I have over 10 years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, and families in multiple settings including post-secondary, outpatient mental health settings, family therapy centers, and community-based agencies.

Outside of my therapeutic work, I have taught courses on multiculturalism and social justice in counselling psychology, and have published articles on a critical examination of multiculturalism and social justice education within professional counselling psychology across Canada, on navigating identity formation in Vancouver, on diversifying research methodologies within our field, and on educational competencies for multiculturalism and social justice in psychology in Canada.

Hello! My name is Nova (she/her) and I am a Master of Counselling student at City University in Vancouver, currently completing my clinical practicum under the supervision of Dr. Julie Cohen at Wayfinding Psychology.

My counselling approach is person-centred, strengths-based, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed, drawing from evidence-based practices that honour each individual’s resilience, inner wisdom, and lived experience. My goal as a student counsellor is to create a safe space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood – a space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment and gain clarity about personal experiences.

I truly value each person’s life story and believe that healing unfolds within the safety and trust of the therapeutic relationship. By working collaboratively together, my intention is to really honour your unique journey and support you in finding new, more compassionate ways of connecting with yourself and the people in your life.

With an educational background in Disability and Community Studies, as well as Child and Youth Care, I have had the privilege of working with families, neurodiverse individuals, and people with disabilities across the lifespan, in both school and community settings. I also have extensive experience supporting post-secondary students through education and outreach focused on sexual violence prevention, with an emphasis on consent, boundaries, and building healthy relationships.

It would be an honour to walk alongside you on your journey!

If you’re ready to explore a new way to build a joyful, good life, manage your mental wellness, and boost your resilience to the wear and tears of life, contact me for a free 15 minute phone consultation to see how I might be able to help you.
